Wales the 5th Nation represented at World Schools Festival. Reigning Welsh Schools & Colleges Cup Champions, Cardiff and Vale College promise to bring the spirit of the Dragon to Thailand

Welsh Schools and Colleges Cup Champions, Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) are the 7th confirmation for the World Schools Festival Cup competition in December.

This is the 3rd National Champion, alongside the New Zealand and English Champions, Hamilton Boys’ High School and Trinity School respectively.

CAVC has risen to prominence in a short space of time since being established in 2016. In that time 28 students have gone from to play internationally from the Wales U18s to the Welsh Senior 7s.

And with over 100 students having represented the Cardiff Blues region from U18 to senior squad level, CAVC will certainly fear no-one in the draw in Thailand.

Cardiff and Vale College now take their deserved spot in the draw alongside,

South Africa’s flagship of schoolboy rugby, Grey College;

2021/22 No1 ranked school in the world, Millfield from England;

New Zealand 2022 National Champions, Hamilton Boys’ High School;

English 2022 National Champions, Trinity School.

Ireland’s powerhouse, St Michael’s College,

English titans, and one of the form teams in England this year, Sedbergh School.

Martyn Fowler, Director of Rugby said:

“We are very proud to be representing Wales at the World Schools Festival, it is a superb line-up from around the world. It is going to be a fantastic for the players and the College to be part of such a quality competition.

It is an opportunity we simply did not want to miss out on, and wonderful recognition of what is being built here at CAVC with our rugby programme, and the achievements of this squad. We cannot wait to get to Thailand for what is going to be a truly unique and memorable week for everyone involved.”

The most eagerly awaited schools rugby tournament will be held for the first time at Pattana Sports Resort in Thailand between 12th-17th December, and is assembling the finest ever worldwide talent of schoolboy rugby players.

The Festival promises to embody the true spirit of rugby, promoting the traditional values of the sport by gathering some of the most promising schoolboy talent the game has to offer, with plans in place to promote rugby in Thailand as well.
